What the college says
You will choose a specialist area based on your DT GCSE and study this in depth. Students can specialise in any one of the following areas: Graphic Products, Resistant Materials, Textiles, Systems and Control (Electronics). We will build upon knowledge and understanding, gained in the relevant GCSE(s) and produce high quality designs and products by developing design and practical skills within your chosen area(s). In addition to a chosen area of specialism, a core of knowledge and understanding will be taught around issues such as design in society, industrial practice, environment, ethics, modern and smart materials etc.
What you need to get on
5 GCSEs at grade 4 and above. Each course carries its own individual requirments.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
