Our Hairdressing Level 2 Blended Learning option, involves less attendance than the full-time pathway. Students study much of the theory work online via our Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) and attend practical sessions in our salons (subject to Covid regulations). This option requires some self-discipline, but offers students a more flexible approach to gaining the qualification.This course is for those who wish to practice the introductory skills of hairdressing with a view to seeking employment, either in a salon, or as a self-employed hairdresser. The qualification has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting and dressing women's hair, along with other associated skills of shampooing, colouring and lightening.

What you need to get on

No previous knowledge required but a good standard of English is essential, as well as the ability to work with others and as part of a team. If aged under 19 and do not have GCSE A-C/4-9, it is a funding requirement to attend additional English and/or Maths classes. You should also have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Once you have practised your skills sufficiently, you will be working on paying clients (subject to Covid regs) to gain professional experience of being a stylist.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
