What the college says

The course will give the opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge of the theories and principles of performing arts, increase your understanding of the industry as a whole, and develop the confidence and skills you'll need to succeed in real-world auditions and interviews. You will learn about professional practice standards, critical and contextual awareness, and the expectations of the professional world of performance and production.

What you need to get on

4 GCSE at grades A*-D or 9-3, including English Language or Level 1 vocational qualification and a Level 1 English qualification or relevant industry experience to level 1 or above. You will have a review of your portfolio and ideally show some moderate success in the subject area. All Learners need 2 black T-shirts and 2 black jogging bottoms to take part in practical sessions, notebooks, pens/pencils, highlighters, jazz shoes, hairbands, set textbook (to be indicated in week 1).

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
