The Level 2 Mechanical Engineering programme provides you with a broad engineering education that covers a wide range of mechanical engineering subjects. This unique programme is designed to support you in achieving a Level 2 qualification in engineering by embedding a Skills Development and Employability programme into your course. From day one we'll begin preparing you, not just with the technical knowledge required by the industry, but also with the additional skills employers expect from their employees. You will experience an interactive way of learning. Practical and experimental classes offer you hands-on experience to complement your course's more theoretical modules, while innovative design-build-test projects replace the more traditional lesson and workshop sessions.

What you need to get on

Whilst there are no formal entry criteria, engineering is a technical subject with both theory and practical elements to the courses we offer. Therefore some working knowledge of basic maths is desired. You will be required to attend and work towards English and/or maths Grade 4 as part of your study programme. All students will also be required to attend and satisfactorily complete a formal induction period

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
