What the college says

The course helps you to develop more than just your creativity and expression and artistic skills you will also gain a deeper understanding of the theories and principles of creative media production. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop, and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.

What you need to get on

4 GCSE qualifications at grades A*-D or 9-3, including English Language. You will have a review of your portfolio and ideally show some moderate success in the subject area. If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade 4 (that's the old Grade C) or above in Maths and/or English, you will be given the opportunity to develop your skills in these subjects. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable. You will also need basic IT skills.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
