Enhancing your practical tool skills and knowledge, classes are made up of both theory and practical units. This course will teach you how to be proficient at building or repairs. Units include setting out, construction solid walling and cavity walling. The curriculum has been designed to support relevant industry standards and includes guest speakers from local construction companies. Students will also benefit from further enrichment including skills development, site visits, working towards a CSCS card and work placement. This qualification can lead into employment or an apprenticeship.

What you need to get on

L1 Bricklaying or equivalent. English and maths GCSE Grade 4 or above an advantage by not essential.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
