This exciting course is delivered through a mixture of practical, theoretical and work-related tasks and activities. You will be provided with the chance to study subjects related not only to Public Services but also areas such as Sport, Psychology, Sociology, Leadership and Health. The subjects you will study are wide ranging, engaging and enjoyable, and will enable you to show off your practical and academic ability. You will learn about the following: • Employment Opportunities • Teamwork and Problem Solving Skills • Health and Safety • Health and Hygiene • Uniformed Service Routine • Health and Fitness • Volunteering • Equality and Diversity. In this safe and supportive environment, you'll achieve anything you put your mind to! As part of the course you may also study English and maths to develop your employability skills.
What you need to get on
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above, including English and maths. Please note: If you have not achieved Level 3 GCSE Maths/English, you will resit these GCSEs alongside your main college course. You should show a genuine interest in the study of public services, be disciplined and committed to working hard.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
