What the college says

The Award in Digital and IT Skills is a part-time course that runs for 18 weeks. It is designed for those who want to develop and extend their digital skills to prepare for employment in a number of industries. It is a daytime course, which is three hours long with additional online homework set each week. The qualification gives you an opportunity to develop an understanding of the importance of digital skills in the workplace, and the actual skills and characteristics desired by employers. You will study two units -. Using Digital Technologies and Social Media Marketing.

What you need to get on

A reasonable knowledge of IT skills is expected. Ideally, you will have completed the Level 1 Digital and IT Functional Skills course, otherwise you will be required to take an initial assessment to assess your prior knowledge in digital skills.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
