What the college says
Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) is a course for those who want to keep up their valuable maths skills but are not planning to take A Level Maths. It is a one year course at Level 3 and is taught over four lessons per fortnight with assessment, homework and research outside lesson time. As it is comparable to an AS, UCAS points are awarded accordingly but it does not count as AS Mathematics for university offers.
What you need to get on
Students will need GCSE Maths at Grade 5 or above.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
