What the college says

Are you interested in taking Maths further than GCSE but are not sure A Level Maths is the right choice? Perhaps you are looking for some maths content to help support other subject areas but do not want to study an entire A Level? Then Core Maths might be the option you are looking for, providing the perfect bridge between GCSE and Level 3. This course is aimed at students who have achieved at least a grade 5 in GCSE Maths and want to continue with the subject but may not have met entry requirements for A Level Maths. The content is based around the GCSE Maths Higher Tier, with around 20% taken from other specifications, for example A Level Maths. It is great for building numeracy confidence, with applied (relevant to everyday) topics. Studied over one year through attending two lessons a week, you will achieve a Level 3 qualification that is worth the same as an AS subject (in terms of UCAS points), with exams taking place at the end of year 12. This course is an ideal companion to any subject that has a statistics component such as Geography, Business, Psychology, Biology, any of the Sciences and PE.
