Course overview Our construction course allows students to develop a variety of skills. Students will be taught a range of skills relating to brick work. We also offer an engaging joinery course where students can build their own models. Our course includes functional skills throughout to support the students in gaining the relevant industry knowledge. What will I learn? You will learn in our workshops with the opportunities to do lots of practical work. The course will cover a range of multi skills including bricklaying and painting and decorating. You will also learn about essential safety that is demanded by the construction industry to prepare you for employment. Modules There are a range of units in construction and painting and decorating which can include: • Health, safety and welfare in the construction industry • Principles of building construction, information and communication. • Painting techniques Assessment You will be required to complete a range of written assignments. You will also be required to demonstrate some skills whilst being observed by your tutor. Work experience You will do at least two weeks of work experience to support your studies, gain experience and potentially develop contacts with future employers. Our team will help you secure a work placement and will provide you with everything required for you to attend your placement.
