Classical Civilisation is the study of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds, through examination of the literature, drama, politics, religion and history. These cultures are the basis of much of western civilisation, and although long dead much of their beliefs and ideas still resonate in the modern world. Many of the issues raised in the literature have timeless themes such as war, suffering, the pain of love and broken family relationships. Students who are interested in history, philosophy, drama and other arts subject will find this subject complements such other disciplines. The course is taught from scratch by subject specialists - there is no prior knowledge of the ancient world required. Classical Civilisation is highly regarded by universities and further education establishments.

What you need to get on

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths plus Grade 5 in either English Language or English Literature. Grade 5 in a Humanities subject

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
