These qualifications are designed for learners who want to develop a career as a childminder, youth worker, nursery nurse or nursery manager. Level 2 will suit you if you work, or are about to work, in a supporting role as a nursery assistant, Crèche worker or special educational needs assistant. You want to work with children, but you’ll generally work under supervision.
What you need to get on
There are no formal qualifications for this award; however you must be a volunteer, a childminder or currently employed in an OFSTED inspected environment – having experience in an Early Years setting. An initial assessment for Numeracy and Literacy will take place on application to the course Students will normally take part in an interview prior to being enrolled on the programme
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
