The first year is the AS course and covers atoms and reactions electrons bonding and structure the periodic table hydrocarbons and basic organic chemistry and energy. The second (A2) year comprises further organic chemistry rates pH and equilibrium further energy and transition metals. Hours of Lessons per Week: 4.3 Indicative Group Size: 20.

What you need to get on

Students should have GCSE Core Science & Additional Science at grade BB (or Chemistry at grade B) in addition to four other full GCSEs at grade C including English Language and higher level Mathematics. Applied Science is not a suitable qualification with which to start this course.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
