Students will learn to work safely in the laboratory using a range of experimental techniques. This practical work is a firm basis for acquiring knowledge and understanding. Core content in all papers - Bonding and structure, redox 1, formulae, equations and amounts of substance. Inorganic and Physical in paper 1 with core - Atomic structure and the periodic table, inorganic chemistry and the periodic table, energetics, equilibrium, acid-base equilibrium. Organic and Physical in papre 2 with core - Organic chemistry, modern analytical techniques, kinetics.

What you need to get on

At least 8 9-5 grades at GCSE, including English Language and Mathematics. Grade 6/6 in GCSE Double Science , or a Grade 6/6 in two of three Triple Science GCSEs - including Chemistry.. Additionally a minimum of a grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics is required.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
