Chemistry is critical to solving today’s problems; faster and cheaper drug development; cleaner and more economical fuel sources; safer air and drinking water; biotechnology to improve health and food sources around the world; nanotechnology to reduce the size and environmental impact on many consumer goods and green industrial processes to prevent pollution. An A Level in Chemistry will enable you to contribute to these developments in the future. We highly recommend students study Maths alongside in order to maximise their achievements in this subject.

What you need to get on

At least 5 GCSEs graded 9-5 including a 6 in Maths and 6/6 in Science. If separate sciences are taken, a grade 6 in Chemistry is required alongside a 6 in one of the other sciences.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
