This course is perfect for school leavers who would like to begin a career in Nail services. The course will begin in September and end in June. This course is a specialist vocationally related qualification which will enable learners to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required in order to perform basic techniques in various nail services, such as the application and maintenance of nail extensions. You will also learn basic techniques in nail art such as sriping, dotting and hand painting. Learners will be able to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding in order to perform professional nail treatments for clients. The course will also provide you with an excellent foundation to enable you to progress on to our Level 3 Nail Services Programme. As an additionality to the course there will be a makeup element, you will learn basic makeup techniques to enable you to create social media content. This is an essential skill to learn for prospective employers and also if you would like to own your own business in the future. To develop your employability opportunities there is the option to attend enrichment classes, for example: Spray Tan Courses, Lash extension Courses. These may focus upon additional qualifications, industrial updating and career preparation.
What you need to get on
4 GCSEs at 3 points or D grade and above is desirable, including English and maths, or a Level 1 qualification. We will request a school or college report and all potentially suitable applicants will be invited for interview before being offered a place.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
