Bricklaying is one of the traditional trades both in the UK and around the world. Those studying bricklaying will learn a variety of skills to enable them to build, repair and maintain the country's housing stock. If you are interested in becoming a bricklayer or working in associated trades this course will provide you with the next steps from your Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying to develop a wider range of practical skills in all aspects of bricklaying. The Study programme of the level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying will consist of five key elements which you will need to complete: > Qualification > Individual and group tutorial sessions > Industry related work placement (if appropriate) > Development of English and mathematics. You will be required to undertake a formal qualification if you have not already achieved English and/or Maths at Level 2. > Development of enterprise and employability skills. To succeed on this course you will need to be diverse in basic bricklaying skills, be motivated and able to self-manage your time to meet set targets. You must have a good work ethic and possess positive personal attributes in terms of good time keeping, communication and co-operation. When a given number of units has been successfully completed the qualification can be achieved.

What you need to get on

You will need the Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying. There is no direct entry through GCSEs. You will be required to attend an interview at the college for all courses and Apprenticeships and we will request a school or college report.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
