Are you ready to take the first steps in training to become a counsellor- This course will give you the underpinning knowledge, skills, and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in a variety of contexts and roles. It is for students who want to start the first level of training as a professional counsellor or who want to learn counselling skills in other professional or helping roles. The qualification would be useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling skills for use in either work or in a personal capacity. These may be learners who wish to progress towards further qualifications, or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (e.g. health and social care; children's care, learning and development; voluntary and community work).

What you need to get on

Learners are advised to have Level 2 English and Maths as you will be assessed through coursework. You will complete an online application and have an interview with one of the course tutors prior to enrolment.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
