What the college says

This course is ideal if you want a practical introduction to dog grooming before progressing to the Level 3 Diploma. You will spend time in the dog grooming units practising bathing drying coat preparation and basic trimming on a range of coat types. Assessment includes written assignments and practical tasks so you build evidence of real competence. It is a strong stepping stone if you want structured experience and clearer progression into professional training.

What you need to get on

To be 19 years old or above. It would be advantageous to be working within the dog grooming industry (as a volunteer or in paid employment) but this isnt essential. You will need to have a good level of literacy to enable you to complete the assignment work.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
