This course is for students who would like to learn the skills needed to secure a job in an early year's setting in the future. This level 2 qualification equips you with all the valuable skills and knowledge for working in the Early Years sector. This qualification covers a range of key subject areas within Early Years. It combines a variety of theory lessons, practical lessons and work experience in an Early Years setting to support you to expand on all the essential skills and knowledge as a blossoming practitioner. The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0–5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.

What you need to get on

Level 1 Merit or above in CamTec or BTEC Health and Social Care.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
