Business A level contains four key areas (or themes). Theme 1: Marketing and people, Theme 2: Managing business activities, Theme 3: Business decisions and strategy and Theme 4: Global business. Candidates will be expected to develop an in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of a wide range of business theory and concepts. They will apply this knowledge and understanding to analyse familiar and unfamiliar situations, problems and issues - using both empirical and non-numeric techniques. This subject encourages the practical application of business concepts and is intended to promote active rather than passive understanding. Paper 1 Marketing,People and Global Business - 35% of marks The marketing mix and managing people, entrepreneurs and leaders, business start-up, global business and global marketing. Paper 2 Buisness Activities,Decisions and Strategy - 35% of marks Business finance and operations and external influences on business. Business decisions and strategy. Paper 3 Investigating business in a competitive environment This paper will assess content across all aspects of the course. Questions will be drawn from local, national and global business contexts. There will be a pre-released context document which will focus on a broad context, such as an industry or market in which businesses operate.

What you need to get on

At least 8 9-5 grades at GCSE, including English Language and Mathematics, Grade 5 in GCSE Business Studies/Economics, or if not studied, Grade 5 in either History or Geography or RE

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
