Business Studies examines business organisations and how they operate in the 21st century. The subject also considers how businesses seek to future-proof themselves and respond to the challenges that change, can present. You will study how businesses carry out various functions including but not exclusive to marketing, finance, production, HR and where there is the opportunity for improved performance. The course also looks at how external influences such as changes in interest rates and exchange rates affect trade and, in turn, how businesses choose to respond to these changes. You will evaluate business behaviour from a variety of perspectives using an investigative, problem-solving approach. The course is divided into four separate themes - Theme 1 Marketing and People and Theme 2 Managing Business Activities, these two themes are taught in year 12. The themes taught in year 13 are - Theme 3 Business Decisions and Strategy, and Theme 4 Global Business. This is all assessed via three exams at the end of Year 13. Paper 1 consists of content from Theme 1 and Theme 4 Paper 2 consists of content from Theme 2 and Theme 3. Finally paper 3, we are given a pre-release for this paper as you students can be assessed from any topic from Theme 1, Theme 2, Theme 3 and Theme 4. In these exams, students will be answering shorter answer questions, numerical and short responses. Longer extended questions, where they will have to show balanced arguments and come to justified conclusions and

What you need to get on

Total point score 33 or higher from best 7 GCSEs including English Language graded 5 of higher and Mathematics graded 4 or higher, and GCSE Business graded 5 or higher (if taken)
