This is intended as an Applied General qualification, equivalent in size to one A Level. It has been designed as part of a two-year programme, normally in conjunction with one or more qualifications at Level 3. This qualification is aimed at learners looking to progress onto Higher Education. The mandatory and optional content provides a balance of breadth and depth, while retaining a degree of choice for individual learners to study content relevant to their own interests and progression choices. Also, the content may be applied during delivery in a way that is relevant to local employment needs. Some units to be included are: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-Being, Anatomy and Physiology, Practical Sports Performance, Professional Development in the Sports Industry and Sports leadership.

What you need to get on

GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English, Maths and, if taken, PE/Sport Level 2 sport related subject, if taken

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
