This is an exciting course for anyone wishing to further develop their understanding of dance. You will get the opportunity to create and perform contemporary and jazz dances, drawing on your imagination and creativity. You will be encouraged to research key practitioners and analyse professional dance works to inform your own practical work and develop your appreciation of dance as an art form. Contemporary and jazz dance technique classes will develop your skills and choreography workshops will give you the opportunity to explore your creativity. End of year shows will allow you to showcase your performing skills. You have to manage your time well, be prepared to rehearse after college (occasionally at weekends and in college holidays) and make evening theatre visits. This course is an ideal extension to any extra-curricular dance classes taken outside academic studies.

What you need to get on

Grade 4 in GCSE English Language is required. Applicants for this course will be invited to take part in a short Creative Workshop to demonstrate their ability level and willingness to perform prior to entry. Relevant dance experience can also be demonstrated during the first weeks of the course. A genuine interest in dance and choreography.
