The qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that will prepare learners for further study or training. Learners have the opportunity to develop a significant core of knowledge in computer science, as well as additional skills in systems analysis and design, systems methodology, computer programming and product development and testing. All students will study three mandatory units that include: • Unit 1: Principles of Computer Science • Unit 2: Fundamentals of Computer Systems • Unit 7: IT Systems Security and Encryption.

What you need to get on

You must have achieved a minimum of four Level 2 grades at GCSE including English and Maths. A GCSE in Computer Science is desirable, but not essential.
