This two-year Extended Diploma course provides the opportunity to immerse yourself within Art & Design, providing you with a skill set to access the best opportunities within the creative industries. This exciting two-year course covers a range of approaches including drawing, painting, printmaking, printed textiles, illustration, photography and sculpture. In your first year you will explore a broad range of projects to develop your skills and multi-disciplinary techniques to create a personal portfolio of work. In your second year you will continue to develop the skills learnt in year one, completing projects that explore experimental techniques in painting, printmaking and illustration. You will also develop a final major project, working in your preferred specialism

What you need to get on

You must have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 9-4, including a grade 3 or higher in English Language. It is preferable that you have a Level 2 qualification in an art-based subject (e.g. a Merit at BTEC or a grade 4 at GCSE). If you don�t, you will need to bring a portfolio of work to your interview which we will review as part of the enrolment process.

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
