This course explores Biology as the science of life and focuses on key topics, including: animal and plant physiology, cell biology, genetics, biotechnology and genetic engineering. The aims of the course are to: stimulate interest in Biological Sciences, promote an awareness of the key issues relating to environmental and human biology, develop ability to research topics and then to communicate arguments clearly and logically. The course is delivered in an interesting, straightforward and practical manner in order to ensure that students are rewarded for the biology skills and knowledge they have developed. Students will complete accessible assessments with various abilities to shine and a choice of two essay questions, giving students more opportunities to bring together knowledge of the whole specification.

Students are expected to have gained at least a Grade 6 in GCSE Biology or a 6:6 in GCSE Combined Science and a 6 in GCSE Maths

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
