A-level Biology is a challenging, rewarding course that helps students develop skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career. Students studying Biology at this level will develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other, develop and demonstrate a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods, develop competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills, develop their interest in and passion for the subject and understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. They will learn about topics including but not limited to: diseases; the heart; enzymes; succession; evolution; genetics and controlling gene expression.

What you need to get on

Hold a minimum of five 9-4 GCSE qualifications and Grade 6 in Double Award GCSE Science or Grade 6 in separate Biology/Chemistry GCSE and a grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
