Biology involves the study of a wide range of exciting topics ranging from molecular biology to the study of ecosystems, and from microorganisms to mammoths. The course helps students develop a number of skills including collecting and evaluating data and investigating facts and taking responsibility for learning. Biology could be the opening to an exciting range of biology careers or work and study in other sciences, including medicine. Biology A Level is enhanced by, and enhances, the following subjects: Chemistry, Geography, Environmental Science and Psychology. A good understanding of Maths is essential and the ability to present written information well is a fundamental requirement.

What you need to get on

Two Separate GCSE Science at Grade 6 or above preferably from Biology and Chemistry, or alternatively two GCSEs Grade 6 or above from the Combined Science. A GCSE Grade 6 or above in Maths and English is also required.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
