There are huge challenges facing the human race currently and in the future surrounding medicine, biochemistry and climate change. Studying biology is the prime opportunity to be at the forefront of these challenges and carve out a future for humans within the natural world. The Biology course aims to promote an interest in, and enjoyment of, the study of living organisms and the natural world. This is carried out through the detailed study of the structure and functioning of the animal body, and the roles of plants and animals in ecosystems. Reference is made throughout to the social aspects and implications of modern biology and its relevance to everyday life. This is a content heavy course, especially suited to an ?all-rounder? who is confident mathematically, communicates effectively and enjoys practical work.

What you need to get on

A Level 6 in GCSE Biology, or a Level 6 in the higher Biology paper if double award GCSE is studied.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
