This is a skills based course which aims to deliver level 2 beauty therapy skills. It covers a wide variety of beauty therapy treatments such as Manicure, Pedicure, Facials, Waxing, Threading, Ear Piercing, Eye treatments and make up application. Throughout the year students will study both the practical and theoretical side of each treatment. Students will be delivering these treatments to paying clients. Student work placements this year will also help them to gain a real feel for the industry, as well as gaining the skills to perform confident consultations, to deliver detailed treatments and give specific aftercare advice. Due to the level of knowledge required to obtain a level 2 qualification, it is essential that students should attend lessons regularly. They need to show a willingness to work on clients during salon workshops and outside of school hours. This course is a step towards the level 3 course which will lead into a more prestigious and rewarding job in the beauty industry.

All subjects have an average points score (APS) requirement; this is the average GCSE grade achieved in Year 11.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
