What the college says

This course is designed for those who have an ambition for a career in the beauty therapy industry. It covers all the basic beauty therapy treatments and will provide you with a good base from which you could progress to further courses. During the course, you will develop practical expertise and essential knowledge of the industry. Practical Skills & Treatments: please be aware that as part of your practical lessons, students learn the treatments on each other. Further development is then performed on paying clients which is part of the assessment process.

What you need to get on

You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades 9-3 (formerly A*- D) or above including Science, English and Maths . There is also an alternative route (Level 1 Beauty) for students not achieving these grades and will be discussed at interview/enrolment. You will be working on external clients from the start of the programme. In addition to the qualifications, you will be required to complete and pass a practical trade test.

How you are assessed

Two-year technical qualification with a 45-day industry placement. Equivalent to three A levels.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
