This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the prevention and control of infections. His includes: legislation, policies, and systems and procedures relating to prevention and control of infections. Also covered is the importance of risk assessment and of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the causes and transmission of infection, cleaning, good waste management practices and decontamination. It can be used to update and continue your professional development, (CPD), and to develop knowledge/skills relevant to the occupational specialisation. It is suitable for anyone who works, or is hoping to gain employment, in this field.

What you need to get on

You will need to be aged be 19+ as at 31st August prior to the start of the current academic year. You will also need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English/Literacy or equivalent. To assist in completion of this qualification, it may help to be working in, or have access to, the chosen sector.
