To develop knowledge and skills on: Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Teaching Assistants in an education setting. Understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting. Child and young person development How to support the well-being of a child or young person. By the end of the course you will be able to: Understand Schools as Organisations. Understand how to keep children and young people safe and well. Know how to communicate with children, young people and adults. NB: It is not a requirement of this course that learners obtain a voluntary placement within a school setting; however, a voluntary placement would offer the learner additional knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant.

You will need an assessment for this course so that we know you are enrolled onto the correct level. You will need English / maths / digital skills at Level 1. You will need basic digital skills to work online. You will need to be able to keep your work organised in a file.

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
