What the college says
You will learn about engine systems, brake, steering, electrical and suspension systems, component fitting and inspecting cars. This course will prepare you for Level 2 having completed over 20 practical tasks demonstrating your competance to repair cars. You will learn a variety of new skills to industry standards including drilling, tapping, re-threading, cutting and filing. You will visit the industry to see how your new skills will be utilised within a functional garage. This qualification will stretch and challenge you to produce a high standard of work to industry standards whilst learning in a safe and friendly learning environment.
What you need to get on
Maths and English at 1(G) or above In addition: Interest in becoming a automotive technician.
How you are assessed
Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
What this level means
A first step that builds towards Level 2.
