What the college says

Compulsory Placement/Work Experience You will undertake a one week work experience placement in a health and social care setting in December as part of the course. Every effort will be made to find a placement near to where the student lives however students must be aware that they may also be required to use public transport to travel to the placement. Students will be required to pay for a DBS check as most employers now require this and provide documents such as a passport and utility bills. Students in receipt of bursary may not have to pay.

What you need to get on

A reasonably good standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a minimum of four GSCEs at grade 3 (including English Language and Maths) of which only one can be a Level 2 vocational qualification (e.g. BTEC/OCR) at Pass grade or above.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
