This two year A Level Art course aims to appeal to versatile and imaginative students who wish to develop their creativity, ideas and skills for use in a variety of contexts. Students work in a wide range of 2D and 3D media to develop their visual skills and explore their strengths and preferences. They may choose to expand their painting skills into oil painting , work graphically extending into printmaking .and develop sculpture in clay or other 3D media. There are a wide range of options with different specialism’s or you may choose to work in one discrete area. Through art and design activities you will learn to make informed value judgements and aesthetic and practical decisions. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of contemporary, historical and cultural art, craft and design.

What you need to get on

It is desirable that students should have at least GCSE grade 6 in Art and Design or equivalent and possess a good portfolio of artwork. You should have a commitment to and love of the subject and feel motivated to develop your visual skills and express your ideas in working through assignments. You need to be able to sustain an investigation and able to enjoy visits to galleries, museums and participate in workshops and drawing trips. Most of all you should be willing to experiment ,and take risks in your work in order to develop your imagination and creativity
