You will study a combination of Fine Art and Photographic practices. You will begin by following several workshops that introduce you to different materials and techniques such as observational drawing, analogue and dark room photography, Photoshop, experimental print, painting, artist analysis, new approaches to drawing and mobile phone photography. The first term you will learn both Fine Art and Photographic practices, by Christmas you will choose a pathway for Alevel either that of Fine Art or Photography. Art and Design is a practical, hands on and experimental course where you will be required to produce a body of work personal to you. You will learn how to apply your technical skills and develop conceptual ideas through discussions, critiques and assessment. The course is thematic and all ideas will be developed by you, resulting in a course that is designed to accommodate you and your way of working.

What you need to get on

6 x GSCE Grade 9-4 including a Grade 9-6 at GCSE in a practical arts based subject or a Merit at Level 2 BTEC You may be asked to present a portfolio of art work before acceptance on to the course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
