What the college says

The Extended Project offers a range of exciting opportunities for students: It provides the skills that higher education is looking for, by encouraging independent study, critical thinking and teamwork. It is an opportunity to develop an area of interest and it gives students flexibility and choice in the selection of a project topic. It can be tailored to fit with individual needs and interest. Undertaking the Extended Project will encourage students to become confident users of and apply appropriate technologies in their studies. It's ideal for improving transferable skills such as planning, research, analysis and evaluation. Students are required, with appropriate supervision, to: • choose an area of interest • draft a title and aims of the project for formal approval by the centre • plan, research and carry out the project and produce a 5000 word essay • deliver a presentation to a non specialist audience • provide evidence of all stages of project development and production for assessment
