What the college says

The Extended Project (EPQ) is an AS qualification designed to focus around students' interests and allows them the freedom to research a topic of their own choosing. Students have to create a title and hypothesis, produce a project plan, undertake research in order to reach a conclusion. The finished product can be an extended essay (approx 5000 words) or a practical artifact with a supporting report (approx 1000 words) and can be undertaken as an individual or as a group project. The EPQ is welcomed by Universities and attracts UCAS points. It allows students to gain many independent study skills that are highly valued at degree level as well as gain experience of in-depth research in a topic of their choice.
