If you have passed GCSE Mathematics at Grade C or above and want to keep up your valuable Maths skills, but not planning to take AS or A-Level Mathematics, this is the course for you. At the end of this one year course you will come out with a Level 3 qualification – with equivalent UCAS points to an AS Level. Core Maths builds on GCSE Maths, with a sharper focus on applying Mathematics to solve problems relevant to their everyday lives. This includes financial applications of Mathematics, as well as further applied and statistical ideas that can support work in other subjects you will be studying, such as Engineering, IT, Psychology, Health Sciences, Geography and even History.

What you need to get on

To enter South Craven Sixth Form students need to have achieved Grade 9-4 at GCSE (A*-C), or Merits in other level 2 qualifications (e.g. BTEC, OCR Nationals), in at least 5 separate subjects including English Lit/English Language or Maths. This is considered to be the minimum entry requirement. Must include Grade 4 in Mathematics
