The course involves classroom learning and provides students with the background knowledge of accountancy concepts. The course is ideal for those who have decided on the specialism of accounts. This training provides skills and knowledge of double entry bookkeeping to an introduction to computerised accounts. The course runs over two evenings per week and is classroom based from September-July. There are five competency based modules which are all assessment through examination.

What you need to get on

The course is available to students aged 19 or over. Candidates must have achieved at least five GCSE grades 9 to 4 including Maths and English. Applicants must possess a high level of maturity - all candidates will be assessed and interviewed for a place on the course. Entry onto any course at East Durham College is subject to final approval from the Assistant Principal. Where relevant, the term ‘entry requirements’ also includes DBS checks, references, fitness to practice, etc.

How you are assessed

Two-year technical qualification with a 45-day industry placement. Equivalent to three A levels.
