If you are interested in learning a language, and take an interest in Spanish culture, this course will be perfect to develop your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills and broaden your knowledge of Spain and other Spanish speaking countries. Spanish is one of the official languages of the European Community and the United Nations and Spain is one of the UKs closest European partners. There are ever increasing opportunities for Spanish speakers to work in Europe and Latin America. During this course, you will learn vocabulary based on a variety of topic areas as well as grammar rules, which will enable you to make sense of and use the language accurately. You will use a wide range of materials and have access to our Languages Centre for help with any aspect of your Spanish studies. You will also have the opportunity to visit Spain, developing your knowledge of Spanish speaking countries and their culture.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including a minimum of grade 6 in Spanish and grade 6 or above in English Language or English Literature. Successful A Level students would normally have achieved high grades in a number of relevant GCSE subjects. An interest in Spanish language, grammar and culture is also essential.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
