SPECIFICATION A Level AQA Sociology 7192 OBJECTIVES The course encourages students to acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of contemporary social processes and structures; to appreciate the significance of theoretical and conceptual issues in sociological debate; to understand sociological research methods; to reflect on their experience of the social world in which they live and develop skills to enhance their ability to participate in adult life. SPECIAL FEATURES Students will have an opportunity to: • Attend Manchester Crown Court to experience the criminal justice system. • Get involved with the lower school by helping run a social sciences lunch time club. • Visit a disused prison to learn about institutionalisation and experience life behind bars.

What you need to get on

Attainment 8 score of 60 (calculated from the best 8 GCSEs), including Maths & English Language to at least grade 5. Students must attain grade 6 in the subjects they will study. Where subjects haven't been studied at GCSE (e.g. Psychology, Economics etc.) then grade 6s in English and or Maths is expected. Students must attain grade 6 in Maths to study Sciences. Where students take more than one of Chemistry, Physics, Maths & Biology we recommend grade 7s in these subjects.
