A Foreign Language opens the door to a myriad of different careers and opportunities. We are now working in a Global economy and most companies have to look further and further afield to compete in todays’ market. Languages provide a solid basis for a career in many sectors including Teaching, Interpreting and translation, Finance, Hospitality, Sales and Marketing, Transport, Tourism and Leisure, the Public Sector, including the UN and EU. Languages make you more employable and give you the opportunity to work in many different places worldwide; languages graduates have one of the highest employment levels upon graduation.

What you need to get on

5 x grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths. Grade 5 in your chosen language. If you don’t have a GCSE in your chosen language, you may still be able to do this A Level course if you have previous linguistic knowledge. For example, if you are a (near) native speaker or lived in a French or Spanish speaking country.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
