This component covers all of the following media forms: music videos, video games, advertising, film marketing, newspapers and radio news/current affairs programmes. This will include: Media Language and Meanings Representations and Meanings Contextual Study - Representations This component assesses knowledge and understanding of media language, representation, industry and audiences. This will include: Television in the Global Age Magazines: Mainstream and Alternative Media Media in the Online Age studied.An individual cross-media production based on two forms in response to a choice of briefs set by WJEC, applying knowledge and understanding of the theoretical framework and digital convergence.

What you need to get on

Non-examination assessment and written examination. Grades will be from A* to E. Media Studies at GCSE would be beneficial and a strong performance in other practical or creative GCSE subjects such as Art, Design and ICT would make you ideally suited to this course.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
