FURTHER MATHEMATICS : Students who have an enquiring mind, those who are able to and enjoy puzzling things through will thrive on this course. Successful Mathematicians will be industrious and creative. Students will be expected to have a secure grasp of the key aspects of algebra before starting the course. Those students who are thinking about studying Maths, Physics or Engineering at university should seriously consider taking Further Maths. The material studied is suitable for students no matter what other subjects they study but particularly suited to those studying the sciences, psychology, sociology, economics and geography. The analytical skills that are developed by the course complement those in history, music, English literature and languages.

What you need to get on

You must have achieved 5 good passes, including mathematics or English, where a good pass is defined as: 9-5 in a GCSE or a Merit or better at a level 2 BTEC. In addition to this minimum entry requirement, it is preferable for students to have achieved at least a good pass in any subject that they intend to study at A Level, if they have studied it at GCSE. Mathematics 6 or above in GCSE mathematics
