What the college says
Through this specification candidates develop expertise in historical skills and acquire knowledge and understanding through the ability to study a wide range of topics in British, European, American and World History from the medieval period through to the late twentieth century. It aims to develop your skills from GCSE but also introduce a range of higher level concepts, such as historiography, which become more relevant when moving towards degree studies. The combinations have been chosen to introduce students to a diverse range of topics and time periods while offering opportunities to consolidate and improve on existing knowledge.
What you need to get on
Grade 6 in GCSE History OR Grade 6 in a Humanities subject at GCSE. Students who do not achieve a grade B will be considered on a case by case basis and on recommendation.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
