At Cardinal Newman College we offer A Levels in French, German and Spanish. Any Modern Language is highly sought after by employers and is a great skill to possess in the current work market. You could earn 10% more than somebody who doesn�t speak a second language. Furthermore top universities respect and recognise the demands of studying this subject and the wide array of transferable skills acquired by students who study a language at A Level. A Level German is a language course that will enable you to communicate confidently when working, studying or staying in Germany or other German-speaking countries. The lessons are often interactive and you will work in pairs, groups and also as an individual. You will learn the grammar of the language which will give you the freedom to express yourself with ease. Learning how to translate, listen and read in German are the crucial skills which will be built upon throughout the two year course and you will also have small group lessons once a week in addition to normal class-time in order to practise and improve your oral skills. You will work from audio/video resources, use interactive whiteboards and language labs and computers as well as text books and grammar exercises on a regular basis.

What you need to get on

Five Grade 5s at GCSE and at least a 6 in German

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
